ADP says US economy lost 742,000 jobs in March
Wednesday, April 1, 2009 According to the payroll services company ADP, United States private sector employers cut 742,000 jobs in in March. The figures were almost 80,000 more than the average analyst prediction of 663,000 losses. This is the largest monthly payroll decline since January 2001, when the ADP began tracking job activity. ADP also updated its job loss statistics for February, from 697,000 to 706,000. “The sharp employment declines among medium- and small-size businesses indicate that the recession continues to spread aggressively beyond manufacturing and housing-related activities to almost every area of the economy,” said Joel Prakken, the chairman of the company that conducts the ADP survey, Macroeconomic Advisors LLC. “Despite some recent indications that stock prices, consumer spending, and housing activity may be bottoming out, employment, which usually trails overall economic activity, is likely to remain very weak for at least several more months,” he added. The US…

Cassini discovers organic material on Saturn moon
Friday, March 28, 2008 The Cassini–Huygens spacecraft has discovered “organic material” and water spewing from a geyser on one of Saturn‘s moons, Enceladus. According to NASA, the discovery was made when Cassini flew by the moon on March 12. “A completely unexpected surprise is that the chemistry of Enceladus, what’s coming out from inside, resembles that of a comet. To have primordial material coming out from inside a Saturn moon raises many questions on the formation of the Saturn system,” said Hunter Waite, principal investigator for the Cassini Ion and Neutral Mass Spectrometer at the Southwest Research Institute located in San Antonio, Texas. The Ion and Neutral Mass Spectrometer saw a much higher density of volatile gases, water vapor, carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide, as well as organic materials, some 20 times denser than expected. This dramatic increase in density was evident as the spacecraft flew over the area of…
Adhd Medications And What You Should Know
More On This Topic: Sarms For Bulking For Sale By Ronald Rougeaux Which ADHD medication is right for you? There have been many new medications released for the treatment of ADHD, however they are all stimulants. The introduction of Straterra was a welcomed announcement to most people, especially those who have children that have been diagnosed with it. In the past, Ritalin and Adderall have both been considered effective, but a lot of parents have heard some bad rumors about Ritalin and do not want to put their children on a stimulant. Ritalin acts as a type of speed but in people with ADHD it neutralizes their brains and causes a calming effect. If someone without ADHD were to take Ritalin, it would act like a speed to them. Straterra is not a stimulant. This leaves some people very curious about how it then can be effective for treatment. Straterra…
California teamsters picket Orange County transit system in contract dispute
Sunday, July 8, 2007 In an ongoing labor dispute from May of this year in California, United States, Teamsters Local 952, which represents the Orange County Transportation Authority‘s 1,200 coach operators, went on strike at 12:35 a.m. (0035 hrs) PDT Saturday morning after a cooling-off period declared by State Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger expired. Sanctioned picket lines have been formed outside Authority facilities in Garden Grove, Anaheim, and Santa Ana. About 200,000 regular passengers are affected. Major sticking points in the negotiation appear to be related to cost-of-living increases and pension funding allocations. The strike was declared after the Authority’s bargaining agent said he lacked authority to approve a union counter proposal, which he said had to be taken before the OCTA’s board of directors, who will not be available to meet until Monday the 9th at the earliest.
