Saturday, March 28, 2009 The 108-floor central component of the new World Trade Center in New York City has been officially renamed 1 World Trade Center, ending the Freedom Tower moniker it had sported since 2003. Freedom Tower was envisioned as a symbol of America’s victory over terrorism. It is currently on track for completion in 2013, with 10 floors partially finished so far. Port Authority Chairman Anthony Coscia commented on the change, “It’s the one that is easiest for people to identify with — and frankly, we’ve gotten a very interested and warm reception to it.” Former Governor George Pataki, who revealed the Freedom Tower name nearly six years ago, was critical of the switch, saying “The Freedom Tower is not simply another piece of real estate and not just a name for marketing purposes.” 1 World Trade Center has been the building’s legal name and address for the…

Thursday, November 21, 2019 In findings published on Monday in Nature Sustainability, researchers mostly from Pennsylvania State University (Penn State) in the U.S. reported the invention of a new coating that could reduce bacterial growth, water waste, and odor when sprayed onto an ordinary house toilet by rendering its surface too slippery for anything to remain attached for long. According to the research team, half of all people worldwide are affected by limits on their water supply, while daily fresh water usage to flush the planet’s roughly 1 billion toilets and flush urinals is upwards of 141 billion liters (about 37 billion U.S. gallons, 31 billion imperial gallons); which they note is several times larger than the total rate of water consumption for the continent of Africa. Inventions that render the facilities more water-efficient, they reason, could have a profound impact on wastewater management, sustainable water use, and sanitation, possibly…

Monday, June 30, 2008 The manhunt for John Walsh, a father of a police officer in his late 60s, has ended without further incident at a motel on the Mid-Western Highway near Hay, New South Wales in Western NSW. The Toyota sedan which he was thought to be driving was found in the motel carpark and has been seized for examination by forensics. More On This Topic: Hydraulic Powered Compressor For Sale byadmin If you are like most people, then a pony rod may sound like something you would use to direct ponies at a party or something similar, but it is actually an important component in pumps. These rods are under a lot of stress inside of the pumps and need to be made of quality materials. Here are a couple of things you should know about pony rods in Weatherford TX. What Do They Do? Pony rods are used in the oil industry for their pumps. The purpose of a pony rod is to connect the surface components of an oil well pump to the downhole components. This is essential for removing oil from the well. This makes it work in a similar way to connecting rods in a car engine. This is because it is transferring the circular movement…

Monday, February 9, 2009 Michael Ray Aquino, a former Philippines National Police officer serving six years imprisonment in McRae, Georgia for espionage could now be eligible for immediate release after a United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit judge panel Friday modified a United States District Court for the District of New Jersey‘s judgment, ordering a resentence of the accused under more lenient guidelines. “I feel relieved for Michael Aquino and his family. Sunday, February 6, 2005 COOK ISLANDS — Emergency centre officials expressed relief on 6 February 2005 (local time) that damage from Tropical Cylone Meena, a category 5 storm, was less severe than anticipated after the eye of the storm bypassed the main island of Rarotonga. Over the previous 2 days, as the storm made its way through the island group, flights to and from both Rarotonga and the outlying islands had been suspended, planes put under cover or flown out of the area and tourist resorts evacuated in the face of forecasts of 270 km/h wind gusts and 10 metre storm surges. About 200 tourist stranded at Rarotonga Airport, after leaving their tourist resorts ahead of the storm, had to be evacuated to a local emergency shelter. Some criticised Air New Zealand for not giving more warning it was cancelling their flights. Although flights resumed only 15 hours after the…
