Tuesday, April 19, 2005 Denunciations of corruption, bribe, collection of bribes from refugees [1] and of sexual scandal involving the peacekeepers [2], [3] threaten the Organization of the United Nations (UN). The gravest denunciations involve the aid project to Iraq, called Oil-for-Food. Grave denunciations of bribe exist, superfluous accounting and collaboration with the ex-dictator Saddam Hussein, against staff of the UN, companies and politicians of several countries. Even the secretary of the UN, Kofi Annan was suspicious of participation in the plan of corruption. And also grave doubts still hover about his son, Kojo Annan. The gravity of the denunciations threatens not only the credibility of the UN, but its existence. Secretary Kofi Annan said that he is going to promote reforms in the organization. More On This Topic: Bulkquip Submitted by: Dennis Jarvis Anthem Blue Cross of California has a been a dominant fixture in the California health insurance market for decades now and their participation in the California Medigap market is no exception. One of the key concerns when shopping for Medicare supplement plans is a carrier’s strength and stability in the market since the purchase can echo decades into the future. Anthem Blue Cross definitely looks good in this light since they are one of the original providers of Medigap plans and can be considered as a leader in the market. Let’s dig a little deeper into their participation, pricing, and plan design in the California market. In most states, Blue Cross and Blue Shield are the same company. California, as always, is very unique in that the two are separate companies for the individual, family, small group, and Senior medigap markets.…

Friday, November 30, 2007 A major oil pipeline in Minnesota exploded and caught fire, killing two workers. The pipeline carries oil from Saskatchewan, Canada to close to Chicago, United States, representing 16% of America’s total oil imports. The section of the pipe that exploded was undergoing maintenance at the time to address a pinhole leak first identified three weeks earlier, and patched at the time with a metal sleeve. On Wednesday, the entire section was removed and replaced with a new one. When oil was reintroduced on Thursday morning, oil leaked where the new section joined the pre-existing pipe, triggering the fatal explosion. The fire was extinguished later the same day. The line is split between four separate pipes. After the explosion, all four pipes were shut down, resulting in the global price surge, but this subsided for the most part after it became clear that the three undamaged pipelines…
