Couple Halloween Costumes: How To Have Halloween Fun Together

By Christine Shoemark

The Queen of Halloween is a little worried. There is a new beau, much different than the faux beau. But, here is the problem: he lives far from her and does not know about the whole Halloween obsession. It’s hard to explain that to a new person, especially one that might not celebrate in the same way. Ah well, for now, let’s focus on the positives: couple Halloween costumes.

Once upon a time, you couldn’t wait until the end of October. You started planning your costume as soon as school started. And then, you got ‘too old’ for dressing up, or so you thought. Some people never get to that state and hopefully, they never ever do. Some people are just inches away from their inner child and only need someone to give them a little shove to make them go whole hog. Couple Halloween costumes can be fun, but only the beginning to your Halloween fun. In addition to wearing them, there are a number of things that you should consider trying to free your inner child.

Fun things to do in couple Halloween costumes:

Of course, going to a party is number one on the list, but there are more things that you could do. If you like, throw your own party and bring back all of the favorite games and activities that you remember from your youth. Bob for apples and have pumpkin carving contests. Warn anyone that does not come in costume to your party that they will be set for toilet paper come November first. Give grab bags to take home, little nostalgic items wrapped in cellophane and tied in orange and black ribbon.

Fun Places to go in couple Halloween costumes:

Okay, so a Halloween party is very obvious, but what about others? What if you both get in your costume and then wander in the neighborhood, queuing up with the little children and taking your turn at the porch of each of your neighbors, begging for candy with an earnest smile and an outstretched plastic pail? If you are concerned about facing people after you have trick or treated at their home, go to a different neighborhood or ‘borrow’ a kid for the night. (The Queen likes to trick or treat but Big Foot slows down the flow. Kid had better learn to pick up the pace or she can stay with the sitter.)

Other fun places: go grocery shopping or go to get a bite to eat in full costume. Remember, you can’t wear your mask inside most places though.

The Queen’s Quick Five Faves:

1. Go on a scare raid: the person to collect the most squeals wins.

2. Mock-nap one of your other couples friends, bringing additional costume gear for them and make them play along.

3. Party Crashing: show up at a Halloween party in your couple Halloween costumes and never give a straight answer about who you are. To be safe, the answer is always ‘Uncle Saul’ Who invited you? Uncle Saul. You get the idea.

4. Halloween caroling. Instead of trick or treating, show up and sing Halloween songs. If you don’t know any, take carols and change the words.

5. A regional favorite (not naming the region though) Tick-Tocking: harmless little pranks that should only be played on people you know have an actual, working sense of humor. Careful though: my aunt ruined her own faux fur coat because of a prank, but that, is a whole other story, my dears.
